About this puzzle
This autumn word search hides the words of the season, from the orchard and the pumpkin patch to the woods outside: acorn, cider, chestnut, maple, squirrel, sweater and bonfire. It is a fall puzzle rather than a holiday one, so it works from the first cool week of September through November.
Play it on your phone or computer, or press Print for a black-and-white copy and Answer key for the solution. Each “New puzzle” builds a fresh grid from a list of over 60 fall words, so a class or a family can play several rounds without repeats.
How to play
- Choose a level: Easy, Medium or Hard.
- Find a word from the list in the grid and drag across it — or tap its first letter, then its last letter.
- Found words are highlighted and crossed off. Clear the whole list to finish.
Tips
- Start with the long words: “migration”, “cornstalk” and “hibernate” are easy to spot once you find their first two letters.
- Short words like “oak”, “pie” and “corn” hide inside the grid; look for them last.
- On Hard, words also run backwards, so read each row from right to left as well.

FAQ
Is “fall” or “autumn” used in this puzzle?
Both. AUTUMN is one of the hidden words, and the rest of the list is the same either way: harvest, foliage, acorn, cider and more.
Can I print a fall word search for my class?
Yes. Press Print for the puzzle and Answer key for the solution. Both print in black and white on Letter or A4 paper.
How is this different from the Halloween and Thanksgiving puzzles?
Those are holiday puzzles. This one covers the whole season: weather, trees, food, clothes and farm life, so it works all through September, October and November.
